For Silence do not take Chances – Negation of two sound sources by David Ahern and Peter Kennedy.

There should be no sound on “set”.
A performer stands silent in front of the video camera with video microphone directed towards his closed mouth.
Artist enters and begins applying adhesive tape and other binding materials to performer's mouth.
Artist continues – for possibly two minutes – until it is obvious tat the performer's vocal potential has been negated.
Using similar materials, the artist then binds the microphone until such time as there is no sound registering on the volume control.
Artist leaves. The only sounds that have been heard are those of the artists de-activating both sound sources.

Technical Directions: Camera should focus on microphone and the performer for about twenty seconds before entry and after exit of artists. Throughout the rest of the piece, the cameraman should move about at his own discretion.
