Two Body Concerts – Part 1 & 2. Performed by Peter Kennedy & Barbara Hall. Contact mikes and amplification by David Ahern.
Piece of twenty minutes duration …
… Two Body Concerts (duration ten minutes each)
(The First Body Concert employs clothed performers (2); the Second Body Concert employs naked performers (2). The below conditions apply to both parts of the work)
Using the video microphone, sandwiched between the surface of the two bodies, a male and female performer motivate the microphone by various bodily movements. Neither performer is to use their hands, except to clasp each others bodies to ensure contact.
Movements used in the motivation of the microphone between their bodies will be largely intuitive.
The performance begins with the microphone held between the chests of both perfomers. The direction in which the microphone travels would be largely due to prevailing circumstances, but should cover areas on the side, and back of the bodies as well as the limbs.
Technical Directions: The camera operator should move about the performers at his own discretion. With regard to Part 2, the cameraman should abstain from provocative shots that might affect the intention of the work.
