Interlude – Contemplation of a TV Screen with music accomp.
For 45seconds video camera remains focussed on the screen of a television set, which is switched off.
Video camera is then slowly refocussed to accommodate the reflections on the T.V. screen, i.e., video cameraman and environment. This activity should require another 45seconds.
Neon lights are turned off for 30seconds of total blackness.|
The T.V. set is then turned on and the video camera is focussed on the images on the screen. This should be of 1minute duration.
Video camera then refocussed on reflections.
This time superimposed on T.V. images for 30seconds.
Room lights and T.V. set are simultaneously turned off creating a period of one minute total blackness.
T.V. set is turned on at considerable distance from the location which it had previously been recording. Now, for 30seconds it should be a relatively small area centered within the playback screen.
Technical Directions: The only sound to be recorded is the footsteps removing the T.V. set to its distant location. Until the last 30seconds video cameraman should be positioned to record T.V. screen only.
[handwritten note:] It is intended that the moments of blackness reproduced on the T.V. screen should mirror the images of those viewing the work.
