Sari TM Kivinen in is an Australian/Finnish artist currently based in Helsinki. Kivinen completed a Bachelor or Fine Arts (Honours) at the University of Western Sydney in 2004 and is currently completing studies in the Masters degree programme of Live Art and Performance Studies at the Theatre Academy, Helsinki.
Kivinen’s practice focuses on meshing performance and writing with the theme of identity construction whilst using methods of role-play and fragmentation. Her work combines live art with forms such as video, sound, and text. Solo exhibitions and performances include: Roles to Make or Break (2008) Don’t Look Gallery, Sydney; The Role-System (2008) MOP projects, Sydney; and Spin-Fold-Spill (2011) Theatre Academy, Helsinki. Kivinen is currently Co-Director of Ptarmigan projects in Helsinki, an organization which focuses on housing experimental art forms and seeks to promote alternative discourse in arts and cultural projects.
