Liam Benson was born in Sydney in 1980. He completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Western Sydney in 2002.
Benson is a contemporary performance artist who documents and exhibits his work through photography and video. Benson’s work deconstructs social perceptions of gender, race, cultural and sub-cultural identity by cross-referencing popular culture, art and media language.
Benson has exhibited his video and photography at various galleries and institutions including: MOP Projects (Sydney), Kings ARI (Melbourne), The University of Queensland Art Museum (Brisbane), Lock Up Gallery (Newcastle), Hazelhurst Regional Gallery (Hazelhurst) and Blacktown Arts Centre (Blacktown).
Benson is also one half of the performance collaboration The Motel Sisters with Naomi Oliver.
