L.A.S is constructed from creative commons and public domain media. This process is intended to reflect the constructed nature of historical recollection and storytelling. Whilst the documentary format appears to have narrative integrity, it quickly reveals itself to be false. The aim of this ‘false documentary’ form is to create a mistrust of images in the viewer. L.A.S proposes that ambiguous language, or language that can hold more than one meaning, is the source of human fallibility but also a device capable of giving interpretation to our existence. The work therefore celebrates failure as intrinsic to art and art to humanity.
