Known for her bold, minimal forms and witty images, Lou Steer’s work celebrates the Australian environment by using found objects with industrial materials and techniques to reflect natural forms, capturing light and space, with an element of surprise. As a multidisciplinary conceptual artist, Lou Steer has exhibited and performed in many public art events including: The Australian Museum 2012, 2013; Museum of Contemporary Art 2012; Rockdale Outdoor Art Prize 2014; Sculpture on the Greens 2013; Kaldor Project (Art and About) 2012; Sculpture in the Vineyards 2007, 2008, 2010, 2014; Riverworks 2008; Cooks River Festival 2008; ANL National Maritime Prize 2006 & 2007; Marrickville Contemporary Art Prize 2007 & 2008. Lou was a co-founder and curator of ESP Gallery, an artist run initiative, which operated from 2009 – 2014.
