SELF-CIRCLE No.1. MIRROR DEFINITION(a work for video. From. . '20 SELF-CIRCLES. . PROGRAMMES & INVESTIGATIONS '71')

place a mirror on the wall.
The performer should stand about two feet from this mirror so that his face is reflected in it.
A second mirror inscribed with the word 'SELF' should be held over the first mirror.
Standing thus the performer should slowly move the second mirror while still staring straight ahead.
The second mirror should be rotated from right to left around the performer's head.
Now the second mirror should be positioned between the performer's face and the first mirror. The word 'SELF' will be projected in mirror image, existing many times in layered sequence.
Having held this position of the mirrors for ten seconds, the performer should once more move the second mirror in rotation from right to left, so that the second mirror comes to rest in front of the first mirror and the word 'SELF' can again be read clearly.

TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS: videoing should commence as the performer positions himself in front of the mirror.
The cameraman should be located about 2feet behind the performers head and the camera should be held in line with the performer's shoulder, so that it is trained on the mirror before his face. During the work the cameraman should not change his position and the camera should remain passive.
