Listening to people, listening to people

Annie McKinnon
2015

Annie McKinnon makes art to share experiences and observations accessible to everyone. McKinnon has always been obsessed with sound and how it can transport time and place into a new context. Throughout 2015 and 2016 she has been working on a larger installation work made up of lots of sounds recorded around her hometown, Coonabarabran in NSW. Lots of these recordings feature sounds from the family home, conversations with family, rustling from the surrounding bushland, old machines and the fences around the family property. What is unique about this sound installation is that it enables the audience to feel present and amongst the artist’s family in the space that the conversation is taking place.
