Big in Japan is a video performance of oki-do (Japanese) yoga at night, in the winter rain at Shibuya crossing in Tokyo, December 2009. Goffman seeks to counter-act the business aspect of this vibrant and populated area with a slow movement, oki-do yoga, learnt and practiced by the artist in Australia.
Shibuya is known as one of the busiest pedestrian traf c areas in the world and the juxtaposition of the clearly Western, slow moving woman in a rain poncho provides an invitation to contemplate mindfulness when moving.
