Zina Kaye’s work Observatine, represents a stage in a five year project which articulates the conceptual bridge between our experience of real and virtual landscapes. In its original specification the work involved a powerful model airplane equipped with a video camera and transmitter. Designed to be controlled remotely over the internet, the model plane is a device for mapping landscapes from God’s point of view. The videos resemble the rendered virtual landscapes of games like Starcraft and the viewer can’t help wondering where the little armies are hiding.
