Volker Eichelmann has worked in video, painting, photography and recently in collage. Artistic precedence is central to Eichelmann's practice as he seeks out forgotten or overlooked practices from the past to reconsider their contemporary critical potential. His series of text-paintings combine drawing, painting and collaged text to present brief autobiographical utterances culled from their original context and transformed into poetic evocations of distant places and encounters.
