Tim Humphrey collaborates with Madeleine Flynn. The pair has worked together since 1993.
The duo are Australian performers/composers/sound designers/researchers/writers/creators/socially engaged sound artists who work across performative art-forms. Their curiosity about sound in space and cultural engagement with sound/music has led them to develop links with artists in dance, theatre, installation, film and public art nationally and internationally. We have worked together since 1993 and are based in Melbourne, Australia.
They create both large scale and intimate works.
Their awards include a GreenRoom Award for Outstanding Composition/sound design, Melbourne International Arts Festival Award, ANAT Synapse Award and two Asialink Residencies in China and Japan. Tim has a PhD in music from Monash University and is currently a lecturer in creativity and culture at Griffith University. They are the secretaries of New Music Network, the national peak body for new music in Australia: Madeleine is a board member of Melbourne Fringe, and is current Chair of the Community Partnerships panel of Arts Victoria. In 2011 they were finalists for the APRA- AMCOS awards for Excellence in Experimental Music and in 2012 were the winners of this award.
