Patsy Payne

Patsy's practice has been characterised by an ongoing interest in the relationship of the body to the rest of the world and how the boundary between the individual and the world seems to be a permeable membrane rather than an opaque barrier. Experiences, landscapes, relationships with things and beings are embedded in us tangibly and ephemerally and act as agents of change in the body.

Patsy exhibits regularly nationally and internationally and her work is held in public collections, including the Art Gallery of NSW, the Australian National Gallery, the Australian National Library and the Frans Masereel Centre Archive, Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp. Patsy studied archaeology at Sydney University before completing a Visual Arts degree at Sydney College of the Arts and later a Bachelor of Science at ANU. She has been teaching full time since 1992.
