Mireille Astore was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1961. She completed a Master of Visual Arts (Research) at Sydney College of the Arts, Sydney University in 2001, and a PhD in Contemporary Arts at The University of Western Sydney in 2007.
Astore is an artist and a writer. Her videos have been exhibited and screened widely including: the Sharjah Biennial, United Arab Emirates; New Museum, New York; Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney; Beirut Art Centre, Beirut; 2004 Sydney Film Festival; 2005 CinemaEast, New York; Copenhagen Contemporary Art Centre; Freud Museum-London; Leeds City Art Gallery; Millais Gallery, Southampton, Casoria Contemporary Art Museum, Naples; Sakakini Cultural Centre, Ramallah; Espace SD, Beirut; and 2007 Adelaide Film Festival. She has had numerous solo and group exhibitions at Conny Dietzschold Multiple Box Gallery, Sydney and in 2003 she won the National Photographic Purchase Award.
