Gabriella Mangano and Silvana Mangano were born in Stanthorpe, Queensland in 1972. Gabriella completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2001, and Silvana completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2003. Gabriella Mangano and Silvana Mangano create performance videos that address the interrelation between body, time and space. The environment of each video holds a different sensibility that instructs the performance. Most of the videos present a sculptural element to the performances whether it is in linear form or the use of mass colour. These sculptural performances embody an interplay between body and object and body and architecture /landscape. Their bodies at times are extensions of these sculptural forms or dissimulated as sculptural objects. Gabriella Mangano and Silvana Mangano are represented by Anna Schwartz Gallery.
