David Carson is a new media artist based in Fremantle. He came to Australia from the UK in 1995 teaching fine art in various art schools before becoming a full time artist concentrating on new imaging technologies. David has collaborated with many art and industry organisations such as Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines, Royal Perth Hospital, Landcare Vision inc., Red-Ochre Productions UK. and the Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory in Lapland, which included helping make the world’s first moving image recording of the Aurora Borealis in 3D with UK videographer Brian McClave. He has a keen interest in landscape and environmental issues and developing new ways to capture and experience natural phenomena. David has been an active advocate of 3D stereoscopic video in Western Australia since 1996 and is a passionate Mac computer user. He recently completed a six month residency at the Fremantle Arts Centre and was Artist in Residence at Horizon, The Planetarium in Perth, til September 2010, supported by Scitech and a Connections Residency Program Grant from the Inter-Arts Office of the Australia Council for the Arts.
