Andrew Styan

Andrew Styan is a Newcastle based new media artist exploring the ways that art can shift public awareness on the complex global challenges of climate change and the related local challenges of coal extraction in the Hunter Valley. His practice incorporates kinetic sculpture, installation, interactivity, generative art and video and reflects a lifelong passion for photographing the landscape and a background in industrial research and technology as a metallurgist in the steel industry. He has exhibited locally and in Perth, Sydney and Brisbane and is the recipient of the national 2015 Harold Schenberg Art Prize for graduating artists. In 2015, Andrew Styan graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Distinction) from the University of Newcastle.
