KAMIRA,1986, 20 mins. (excerpts only)
Kamira Camera Club
Produced and directed by Marlene Johnson Nampijinpa, Cecil Johnson Japangardi, Peter Ross Jangala and Penny McDonald.
Kamira is the traditional name for an Aboriginal outstation in the remote Tanami Desert. During the 1950's and 1960's the Warlpiri people were ousted by the government and herded into settlements. This video tells the story of the return of the Warlpiri people to the land of Kamira ... the authentic voice of the Aboriginal people talking about their own lives, their history, their land.
[Video/Culture : catalogue of travelling exhibition from Australian Video Festival 1986]
