In an attempt to document the self-imposed borders and restrictions imposed upon male affection and interactions by the heteronormative patriarchy, Matto Lucas Visual Artist invited multiple strangers of varying sexual identities to interact with his passive body in a clinical and deAsexualized studio environment. What was created was a pseudo-queer-performative video work that sits somewhere between documentation, performance and scientific measurement. The interactions are one-take authentic responses. Within the video loop we can begin to unpack nuanced notions of intimacy, power and control, desire, expectation, body value systems and elements of quarantine and disease / contagion within a queer culture sub-text. The work is currently still being unpacked and worked on by the artist and is in a state of flux and experimentation.
