3 Texts is the product of a collaboration between Stephen Jones and Warren Burt at the electronic music studio of the Music Department at La Trobe University. It was made after Burt's Video Spectrum festival in 1977. We used video feedback and bits of text mixed through the EMS Spectre. The colour was controlled by the same control signals that drove the sound synthesiser which was set up and operated by Burt. The titles of the pieces were chosen for their political, anti-bureaucratic intent, comments that we thought might lead the viewer to think a little about the mobility of language and the loss of meaning brought about by so much bureaucracy and how we might deal with it.
