A work commissioned by the National Gallery of Victoria for an exhibition in Japan which didn’t rely on dialogue or voice-over. It considers how others inform and almost become part of ourselves - whether through memory or interpersonal relationships.
The work is composed of still images from digital video footage which are cut by hand with a scalpel. The collaged elements are then re-shot at two frames per second to form an old - school style animated morphing. Without You questions the boundaries where our selves begin and end - an idea that is communicated using a purely visual language.
