Tessellation Angel takes an entirely different approach to "gene" splicing. Here the work is treated linearly, in one pass. The work is constructed from the end of the original composition to the beginning, so it is backwards composed but does not sound backwards. There is an imposed rhythmic imprint that is created by repeating the same "gene" fragment before moving on to the next. In this work, the rhythmic imprinting created a powerful inexorable tension that is slowly defused as the original opening material is reached and processed. The "genes" can vary slightly in size (around 17 hundredths of second) and point of placement in relation to the previous "gene". Each "gene" is also given a randomly selected stereo location.
