Starting out as Warlpiri Media Association and based in the remote community of Yuendumu in Central Australia, work of the Association has become known internationally through the innovative Bush Mechanics. Warlpiri people such as Francis Jupurrurla Kelly, Andrew Japaljarri Spencer and Kurt Japanangka Granites developed ground breaking ideas on Aboriginal control of video production and broadcasting which ideas continue to have relevance and importance for the expanding Aboriginal media network in Australia.

PAW makes videos for our local communities, for iCTV and national TV.In 1985 in Yuendumu in Central Australia, Warlpiri Media Association established the first Aboriginal TV station in Australia. PAW Media and Communications is a not-for-profit organisation incorporated under the NT Associations Act.

Established in 1983 as Warlpiri Media Association we took on the trading name PAW Media and Communications in 2006 to reflect their services to other language groups in the Tanami region. PAW is one of eight Remote Indigenous Media Organisations (RIMOs) in Australia.
